Becoming a Member of the Shakespeare Theatre Association of America
Membership is open to any producing theatre organization worldwide that is primarily involved with the production of Shakespeare’s plays.
STAA membership now includes approximately 75 theatres, representing diverse types (indoor, outdoor, year-round, seasonal, university-affiliated, free) with wide ranging budgets ($25,000 to $27,250,000) and Equity as well as non-Equity companies. Despite our diversity, the artistic and managerial issues we face as individual organizations are, quite often, common to us all.
Associate Membership, without voting rights, requires approval of the Executive Board and is open to individual theatrical professionals who have shown in their interests and activities a substantial relationship to the production of Shakespeare’s plays, training of artists for the production of Shakespeare’s plays, acting, directing, designing, critical writing, publication and/or advocacy on behalf of the production of Shakespeare’s plays.
All Members benefit from the networking and learning opportunities that STAA membership offers. Other membership benefits include two issues of Quarto per year, an annual membership Directory, and access to the Members-Only section of this website which has detailed information and analysis about Shakespeare theatre production.
Annual dues for Organizational Members are $100 and for Associate Members are $50.
